Wednesday. Made it to the middle of the week. To help us get over the hump, BJ and I have a long-standing tradition of joining friends for a mid-week gathering. Tonight, we ate at Los Cubanos in downtown San Jose. This was my second visit to the restaurant, and the food was by far more exceptional than my first experience. To explain, the food was delicious, but I ordered crackly and greasy roasted pork and felt like an oil well afterwards. I knew better this time than to repeat with the same dish. I sticked to the leaner meats (but I did miss the crispy pork skin that our friends ate). Dinner started off with salad and homemade chicken soup, reespectively for BJ and me.
We both ordered shrimp dishes. He selected a garlic and chopped olive shrimp dish with plantains and black beans.
I tried the Enchilado de Camarones - shrimp with a tomato base and roasted peppers, peas and olives. Both shrimp dishes was super but I preferred the more flavorful chopped olive and garlic sauce. The plantains that came with the meal were divinely sweet. Sadly, I was too full to appreciate the black beans and forgot all about it until I was too stuffed to eat anymore.

Thanks Val! I am trying my best to be more consistent with blogging and being on the Internet as a whole, but the weather is so nice here that I found myself enjoying the outdoors in my free time.
